委員任命の期限が来週に迫る中、徴用工問題で日本が開催を要請した仲裁委員会について、韓国側は「日本側が一方的に設定したものだ」などとして、今回は開催に応じない方針です。

徴用工問題をめぐっては、日本政府が先月２０日、日韓請求権協定に基づき、第三国の委員を含む仲裁委員会の開催を要請し、韓国が委員を決める期限が今月１８日に迫っています。
これについて、韓国側はこれまで「検討中」と表明していましたが、韓国の外交関係者によりますと、「日本側が一方的に仲裁委員会の開催を要請しただけで、韓国側が応じる理由はない」などとして、「韓国はもともと仲裁委員会に行かない方針だ」ということです。
韓国側が仲裁の手続きに応じなかった場合、日本側はＩＣＪ＝国際司法裁判所への提訴も視野に入れています。
